President Zardari Calls for Regional Cooperation in Trade and Security

ISLAMABAD, March 11 (Alliance News): President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation with regional allies in trade, economy, climate action, and cultural exchanges, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the region.

Addressing the joint session of parliament at the start of the new parliamentary year, President Zardari said Pakistan’s foreign policy would remain guided by national interests, sovereignty, and mutual respect. He stressed that Pakistan would continue playing its role as a responsible and peace-loving nation.

Highlighting China as Pakistan’s key strategic partner, he vowed to strengthen economic and strategic ties, reaffirming support for the One-China Policy. He recalled his recent visit to Beijing, where he invited Chinese investors to expand CPEC projects for greater regional and economic integration.

The president also appreciated the continued support of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkiye, and other allies, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with the Gulf, Central Asia, the EU, the UK, and the US.

Referring to the recent arrest of top ISKP terrorist Sharifullah, President Zardari praised the successful counterterrorism collaboration between Pakistan and the US, urging both nations to build on this progress for enhanced security cooperation.
