TASHKENT, Feb 25 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Tashkent on Tuesday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Upon arrival, he was received by Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Tashkent’s Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Alisher Takhitayev, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Ahmed Farooq, along with senior diplomatic and government officials. A contingent of the Uzbek armed forces presented a static salute to the prime minister.
During the visit, PM Shehbaz will lay a wreath at the Independence Monument in Tashkent and receive a briefing on Uzbekistan’s 3,000-year history depicted in the monument’s woodwork.
He will also hold a bilateral meeting with President Mirziyoyev to discuss regional connectivity, trade, investment, energy, defense, security, regional stability, and education. Both leaders will exchange views on global and regional issues of mutual interest and sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance bilateral cooperation.
The prime minister will address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum to boost trade and investment ties and visit Tashkent’s Techno Park to observe advancements in the construction industry.
He is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Investment and Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi.
