Shehbaz Sharif’s Belarus Visit to Boost Trade, Connectivity: Abdul Aleem Khan

ISLAMABAD, April 11 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has hailed Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit to Belarus as a highly significant step towards strengthening bilateral trade and connectivity between the two countries.

In a media interaction held in Belarus, Abdul Aleem Khan noted that the participation of over 100 Pakistani companies and encouraging interest from Belarusian counterparts reflected a promising direction for future collaborations. He emphasized that both nations are determined to convert their long-standing friendship into meaningful and mutually beneficial trade relations.

The minister also highlighted Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s special regard for Pakistan, which was evident during key meetings with former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He noted that Lukashenko extended official invitations to both Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He stressed the importance of enhancing direct connectivity, stating that the lack of a direct flight between Pakistan and Belarus hampers trade and business opportunities. Establishing such a link is vital to facilitating Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) ties, he added.

Abdul Aleem Khan underscored Belarus’s strategic location as a gateway to Europe, encouraging Pakistani businesses to explore export and import avenues. He mentioned that during his earlier visit to Belarus this month, he held productive discussions with the Belarusian Ministers of Energy, Transport, and Communications and visited a major tractor manufacturing plant.

He revealed that Pakistan is now interested in establishing a similar facility domestically to support its agricultural sector and reduce dependency on imports.

Expressing optimism, Abdul Aleem Khan said the prime minister’s visit will pave the way for stronger bilateral engagements and open new opportunities for Pakistan in Belarus and broader European markets.
