ISLAMABAD, Feb 11 (Alliance News): National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has strongly criticized recent remarks made by Islamabad High Court (IHC) Judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, calling them an attack on parliament.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Sadiq stated that no one has the right to make derogatory comments about the legislature and directed Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar to convey to the judiciary that parliament remains supreme.
The controversy arose after Justice Kayani, during a hearing on a petition challenging the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) exam results, remarked that the judiciary, parliament, and administration had all collapsed, with the judiciary left “in the air.”
Sadiq also revealed that he had written separate letters to the government and opposition regarding the appointment of the election commissioner.
Justice Kayani has previously expressed concerns over the 26th Constitutional Amendment, suggesting that its legal implications would ultimately be decided by a full Supreme Court bench.
