DOHA, May 16 (Alliance News): US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will retain control of Afghanistan’s Bagram Air Base and will not hand it over to any other country.
Addressing American troops at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, President Trump emphasized that ending conflicts remains one of his administration’s key priorities. However, he stated that the US will not hesitate to use military force to protect its allies.
During his address, Trump revealed that Qatar had signed defense agreements worth $42 billion with the United States and pledged an additional $10 billion investment in the development of Al-Udeid Air Base over the coming years.
Highlighting military advancements, Trump said the US Air Force will soon receive the F-47 aircraft and is also preparing for the F-55—a more advanced version of the F-35 fighter jet. The US 2026 defense budget, he added, will include a significant pay raise for American service members.
Commenting on the recent India-Pakistan conflict, President Trump said, “I believe the conflict has been resolved.” He urged both countries to “choose trade over war,” expressing confidence that they would follow this path.
