KARACHI, April 8(Alliance News): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially announced the introduction of a five-year visa policy for Pakistani nationals, UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi revealed during a high-level meeting with Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori at Governor House, Karachi.

The UAE Consul General, Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi, also attended the meeting, where both sides discussed ongoing development projects and investment prospects in Sindh, particularly in Karachi.

Governor Tessori thanked the UAE for its longstanding support and appreciated its recent investment initiatives in the province.

Ambassador Al Zaabi extended an invitation to the governor to visit the UAE visa center established in Karachi and praised the initiatives launched under Governor Tessori, expressing full support for efforts that promote mutual development and cooperation.

During the visit, the UAE envoy participated in a plantation campaign by planting a tree at the Governor House and attended a flag-hoisting ceremony.

He also signed the guest book, calling the occasion a mark of enduring friendship between Pakistan and the UAE.

The new visa policy, as explained by the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, includes requirements such as round-trip tickets, hotel bookings, proof of property ownership (if applicable), and a deposit of AED3,000.

This announcement follows the recent clarification by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) that there is no official visa ban on Pakistani nationals.

In response to a parliamentary query by Dr. Nafisa Shah, MoFA stated that the UAE has introduced enhanced scrutiny due to issues involving fake academic documents, visa overstays, and misuse of social media by some individuals.

Pakistani authorities, including the embassy in Abu Dhabi, have been actively engaging with the UAE to address these concerns at various levels, aiming to streamline the visa process for genuine applicants and further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
