Ahsan Iqbal Administers Oath to MBBS Students at KEMU’s White Coat Ceremony

LAHORE, Feb 10 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal administered the oath to first-year MBBS students at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) during its prestigious White Coat Ceremony.

Addressing the newly-admitted students, he congratulated them on beginning their medical journey, emphasizing that becoming a distinguished doctor requires a decade of rigorous study. He highlighted the vital role of a doctor’s behavior in patient recovery beyond medical treatment.

Recalling the 2018 assassination attempt on him, Ahsan Iqbal expressed gratitude to KEMU’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz for his treatment, underscoring the sacred bond between doctors and their white coats.

He also discussed Pakistan’s economic potential, comparing its 1969 revenue to that of Malaysia, Thailand, and South Korea, which have since experienced significant growth. He credited long-term strategic planning and innovation as key factors in their progress.

The minister announced the launch of ‘Uraan Pakistan,’ a three-year healthcare program allocating Rs 67 billion for Zero-Hepatitis and diabetes treatment and Rs 8 billion for heart stents. He emphasized the need for research and technology-driven advancements in Pakistan’s medical sector.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Mahmood Ayyaz praised Ahsan Iqbal’s contributions to development projects in Narowal. The event concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to the minister in appreciation of his effort.
