Attaullah Tarar Calls for Global Media Partnerships at Saudi Media Forum

RIYADH, Feb 21 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Culture Attaullah Tarar emphasized the need for stronger global collaborations to enhance Pakistan’s media landscape, speaking at the Saudi Media Forum 2025.

He highlighted that local media required growth and capacity enhancement, asserting that partnerships with international organizations could bring a transformative change.

Tarar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering these collaborations to develop human resources in the media sector.

Praising Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, he described it as a revolutionary transformation under the leadership of Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman.

As Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Culture, Tarar stressed the importance of a modern, digitally advanced media landscape in Pakistan that raises social awareness and provides a platform for free expression.

Noting Pakistan’s vast internet user base of 180 million and a youthful population where over 60% are under 30, he underscored the country’s potential for digital media expansion. He lauded the role of international media outlets like Arab News, Urdu News, and Independent News in shaping public discourse.

Tarar also highlighted the achievements of Pakistani icons such as Oscar and Emmy award winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, and mountaineer Samina Baig. He recounted the selfless act of Farman, a Pakistani expatriate in Saudi Arabia, who saved four lives during a flood before losing his own.

He advocated for international cooperation in media to showcase Pakistan’s storytelling and filmmaking potential while addressing global challenges like misinformation and fake news. He called for the establishment of an AI-driven fact-checking institution to ensure the credibility of information shared globally.

Tarar welcomed partnerships between international and Pakistani media houses, stressing that global cooperation would unlock the true potential of Pakistan’s media industry.
