Attaullah Tarar: Pakistan’s Economic Policies Gaining Global Recognition

LAHORE, Oct 05 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, stated that Pakistan’s economic policies are being acknowledged globally as the country’s economic indicators are moving in a positive direction.

Speaking at a press conference at the PML-N Secretariat on Saturday, Tarar highlighted the recent diplomatic engagements and economic progress under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership.

He emphasized that PM Shehbaz Sharif effectively raised the issues of Palestine and Kashmir during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, receiving widespread praise.

He also mentioned that the visits of foreign leaders, including the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, reflect growing diplomatic and economic ties.

The minister highlighted the increasing cooperation with Saudi Arabia and noted that Malaysia had committed to importing $200 million worth of halal meat and 100,000 tonnes of rice from Pakistan.

Tarar praised the recognition of Pakistan’s economy by global platforms, including Bloomberg, which identified Pakistan as one of Asia’s emerging markets.

He further elaborated on the government’s reforms, including the closure of the Public Works Department, the sidelining of corrupt FBR officers, and the digitalization of the tax system without incurring any costs.

He criticized the opposition, particularly the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for organizing protests that harm Pakistan’s image, especially during significant international events like the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.

Tarar expressed concern over PTI’s invitation to Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to attend their protests, questioning the party’s mindset.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding Pakistan’s positive image globally and announced that October 7 would be observed as a “Day of Solidarity with Palestine” with various events planned.
