ISLAMABAD, Feb 3 (Alliance News): President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to combating cancer, emphasizing collective action, innovation, and resilience in tackling the disease.

In a message on World Cancer Day, observed on February 4, he highlighted the profound challenges posed by cancer and the need for urgent action.

The president noted that rapid urbanization, lifestyle changes, and low awareness levels have exacerbated the prevalence of cancer.

He stressed the importance of a renewed commitment to alleviating its burden through strengthened healthcare infrastructure, national and provincial cancer strategies, and innovative public-private partnerships.

He further emphasized that cancer is not just a health issue but a societal challenge requiring collective efforts.

Raising awareness about prevention and early detection is crucial, and media support is essential in educating the public.

He called on all citizens, healthcare professionals, civil society, and the private sector to unite in ensuring access to timely diagnosis, effective treatment, and compassionate care for all, regardless of socioeconomic status.
