CDA Announces Major Infrastructure Upgrades in Islamabad, New Food Streets Planned

ISLAMABAD, May 12 (Alliance News): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced a comprehensive plan to upgrade Islamabad’s infrastructure, with key developments including the modernization of Melody Food Street, creation of a new food street in Blue Area, and improved traffic management to ease congestion across the city.

In a high-level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa at CDA Headquarters, officials and board members reviewed initiatives aimed at enhancing the capital’s livability and public services.

Chairman Randhawa directed authorities to upgrade Melody Food Street with improved lighting, dedicated parking areas, and strict food quality monitoring by the Islamabad Food Authority. “Melody Food Street is a landmark, and we want citizens to enjoy safe, high-quality food in a clean and attractive environment,” he said.

He also unveiled plans for a new food street in Blue Area, which will feature modern landscaping, decorative lighting, and adequate parking to accommodate residents and tourists.

To combat growing traffic congestion, especially during weekends, the CDA chief instructed the development of an efficient traffic management plan for Islamabad’s major commercial zones. Plans are also in place to establish designated vehicle bazaars to organize auto-related commercial activity.

The meeting also reviewed progress on the Gandhara Heritage Club, with a directive for its timely completion. Randhawa ordered immediate replacement of faulty streetlights in public parks and along major roads, including Margalla Road and the Expressway.

In line with CDA’s environmental sustainability goals, tree plantation drives will be launched on Club Road, Faisal Avenue, and Jinnah Avenue. Floral arrangements and urban greenery projects will be initiated to improve the capital’s aesthetics.

“Islamabad’s development, prosperity, and beauty are our top priorities,” Randhawa emphasized. “We are committed to making Islamabad a model city with world-class infrastructure and public facilities.”
