ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (Alliance News): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has submitted a review petition in the Supreme Court (SC) to seek clarification on several key points following the detailed order issued in the reserved seats case.
According to a press release issued Thursday, the ECP has added additional grounds to its already filed review petition after the issuance of the detailed order.
The confusion arises due to recent amendments introduced by the Parliament regarding reserved seats in the Election Act.
The ECP’s petition seeks guidance on whether it should follow the newly enacted law or adhere to the Supreme Court’s order, prompting the filing of the Civil Miscellaneous Application (CMA).
For the past few days, the ECP has been reviewing the implications of the SC’s detailed order in light of the Parliament’s amendments to the Election Act.
