RAWALPINDI, Sep 25 (Alliance News) – Security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Razmak area of North Waziristan, resulting in the elimination of at least eight terrorists, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation was initiated on the night of September 25-26 following reports of terrorist presence in the region.
During the operation, intense exchanges of gunfire occurred between the troops and the militants, referred to as “Khawarij” in the ISPR statement.
“Eight Khawarij were sent to hell,” the military’s media wing reported, noting that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased terrorists, who had been actively involved in attacks against security forces and had targeted innocent civilians.
Following the operation, security forces are conducting sanitization efforts in the area to ensure the complete eradication of any remaining militants. The ISPR emphasized the military’s determination to eliminate the threat of terrorism from the country.
This operation follows recent remarks from Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, who reiterated the Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting law enforcement agencies, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
During his visit to Wana in South Waziristan, he received briefings on the current security situation, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, and development initiatives.
The situation remains critical, as just last week, six soldiers were martyred, and 12 terrorists were killed in two separate operations in North and South Waziristan.
The ISPR detailed that these encounters occurred on September 19 and 20, when security forces detected a group of seven terrorists attempting to cross the Afghanistan border into Pakistan in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan.
