Erdogan to Visit Pakistan as Part of Asian Tour

ISLAMABAD, Feb 10 (Alliance News): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to arrive in Pakistan this week as part of his four-day visit to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan, with Islamabad being his final stop.

During his visit, Erdogan will discuss various aspects of bilateral relations, focusing on strengthening cooperation in multiple fields, particularly defense.

The visit follows a recent meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Erdogan at Istanbul Airport, where both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest.

Pakistan and Türkiye have deepened their defense collaboration, with Pakistan acquiring Turkish naval vessels and both countries conducting the Turgutreis-XI naval exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean in January. This exercise aimed to enhance interoperability and maritime security cooperation between the two navies.

Erdogan last met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in September 2024 during the 79th UN General Assembly in New York, where he praised Pakistan’s economic progress.

His visit comes amid growing international engagements with Pakistan, following the visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in November 2024.
