Federal Cabinet Approves 50% of Government Imports Through Gwadar Port

ISLAMABAD, Sep 13 (Alliance News): The Federal Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved a proposal by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs to route 50% of all public sector imports, including wheat, sugar, and fertilizer, through Gwadar Port.
The move aims to boost Gwadar’s operations and contribute to Balochistan’s development. Additionally, a subcommittee will monitor the progress by submitting quarterly reports on Gwadar’s imports and exports.

The cabinet also endorsed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sri Lanka to issue a commemorative postal stamp marking 75 years of diplomatic relations and approved reconstituting the Korangi Fish Harbour Authority’s Board of Directors.

Several key appointments and decisions regarding sugar exports, salary adjustments for Planning Commission members, and departmental promotion exams for Inspector Inland Revenue were also approved.
