ISLAMABAD, Aug 30 (Alliance News): On Friday, the Federal Cabinet approved the initiation of negotiations on the Financial Commitment Agreement between China and Pakistan Railways for upgrading the ML-1 project, a key element of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The final agreement on the ML-1 project will be presented to the cabinet for further approval.
During the meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the cabinet was briefed on his recent visit to Quetta. The prime minister emphasized ongoing efforts to bolster the capacity of law enforcement agencies in Balochistan, including the police and levies.
Prime Minister Sharif reiterated the nation’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and vowed to deal firmly with those who threaten national security. He commended the Balochistan provincial government for its efforts to integrate Baloch youth into the national mainstream, focusing on their development and prosperity.
The prime minister also assured that the federal government would support the Balochistan government in providing world-class education and development opportunities for Baloch youth.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved decisions made by the Economic Coordination Committee on August 29, 2024.
