NA Speaker Permits Female Staff to Leave Before Sunset During Late Sessions

ISLAMABAD, Jan 24 (Alliance News): Female staff members of the National Assembly Secretariat have been granted permission to leave work before sunset when assembly sessions extend past dusk.

NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq announced the decision, emphasizing the collective responsibility to safeguard women’s rights and support a balance between their professional and domestic roles.

Dr. Shahida Rahman, secretary-general of the Women Parliamentary Caucus, lauded the initiative as a step toward creating a supportive work environment for women. She stated that such measures demonstrate parliament’s dedication to women’s rights and will enable a better work-life balance.

MNA Nighat Shakeel, convener of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights, highlighted the positive implications for child upbringing, noting how this measure could enhance women’s overall well-being.

Shaista Pervez Malik, ambassador for Women Political Leaders, called the initiative exemplary, advocating for its replication in both public and private institutions to improve working conditions for women.
