TIMER GARH, April 11 (Alliance News): Security forces killed two Khawarij, including a high-value target, during an intelligence-based operation in the general area of Timer Garh, Lower Dir district, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operation, launched during the night between April 10 and 11, was based on confirmed intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. Following an intense exchange of fire, the security forces eliminated Khawarij Hafizullah alias Kochuwan and one other militant.
Hafizullah, a most-wanted terrorist, was involved in numerous deadly attacks targeting security personnel and civilians. A bounty of Rs. 10 million had been placed on his head by the government.
ISPR noted that the area was thoroughly cordoned off before the action, and the hideout was successfully targeted by the forces.
The presence of more Khawarij operatives in the region is suspected, and a search operation is ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats.
