Islamabad, Oct 3 (Alliance News): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a petition challenging the closure of Tandoori Junction, a private hotel in F-7 Markaz. The court directed all involved parties to submit responses within 15 days.
Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Aamer Farooq, presided over the case, in which the petitioner Javed Asif was represented by Advocate Qaiser Imam.
Officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA), including Director General Building Control Authority Faisal Naeem, and other legal representatives from the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) and Municipal Corporation Islamabad (MCI) were also present.
During the hearing, Advocate Zaheer ud Din Babar, representing a private hotel Hill View, requested that related cases be heard together.
While Chief Justice Aamer Farooq noted that the cases were not directly connected, he agreed to combine them upon Babar’s request.
The court raised questions regarding the CDA’s actions, particularly the sealing and subsequent closure of Tandoori Junction. Chief Justice Farooq demanded justification for these decisions and inquired about Assistant Commissioner Farhan Ahmad’s absence.
Advocate Qaiser Imam, representing the petitioner, claimed that Hill View hotel, a nearby private establishment, was constructed without CDA’s approval and violated building control rules. He urged the court to order its demolition.
Additionally, he questioned the legality of DG Faisal Naeem’s prolonged tenure and qualifications.
Chief Justice Farooq expressed concerns over inconsistencies in the CDA’s three separate notices regarding Tandoori Junction.
He ordered the hotel to remain open until the next hearing and instructed all parties to provide their responses within 15 days.
