RAWALPINDI, Jan 25 (Alliance News): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for a meeting with his party’s negotiation committee before the fourth round of dialogue with the government, set for January 28.
During a meeting with PTI leaders at Adiala Jail, where he is currently incarcerated, Khan stated that the party’s final stance on the negotiations would be determined after the internal meeting, sources said.
PTI has been engaged in talks with the ruling coalition to ease political tensions, but recent developments have led to confusion over the party’s position.
Initially, PTI announced the suspension of talks, citing the government’s delay in forming a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 and November 26 incidents.
Speaking to the media, PTI Senator Shibli Faraz emphasized the need for impartial investigations into the May 9 protests and the crackdown on party supporters during the November 26 demonstrations.
“The government must form a judicial commission to ensure credibility,” Faraz remarked, warning against delays.
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja echoed these sentiments, declaring that the party would not attend the upcoming talks unless the government met their demands.
The PTI leadership remains firm on its call for political stability, with party members reiterating their openness to dialogue if conditions are met.
