ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 (Alliance News): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad to express Pakistan’s commitment to justice and security after an incident in Karachi left two Chinese nationals injured by a security guard’s gunfire.

In a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong, Minister Naqvi extended Pakistan’s sincere regret and conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families, emphasizing Pakistan’s top priority: the safety of Chinese citizens, particularly those involved in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

Minister Naqvi briefed Ambassador Jiang on the details of the incident and assured him of a swift, transparent investigation to hold those responsible accountable.

“We fully agree with the Chinese approach of combining development with security, and we will ensure the safety of Chinese nationals and projects as a top priority,” he stated.

Naqvi affirmed that additional security measures are being implemented across all CPEC sites, with increased surveillance and emergency protocols, especially in Karachi, to prevent future incidents.

Ambassador Jiang expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s immediate response to the incident and reaffirmed China’s trust in Pakistan, describing the two nations as “iron brothers.”

He emphasized China’s willingness to further support Pakistan’s security measures by sharing resources and advancing security cooperation.

Both officials committed to forming a joint strategy to prevent similar incidents, enhancing communication, and strengthening security protocols.

Ambassador Jiang thanked Naqvi for Pakistan’s hospitality during Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang’s recent visit, and conveyed well wishes from Chinese President Xi Jinping to President Asif Ali Zardari for his recovery.
