QUETTA, Aug 27 (Alliance News): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday emphasized the government’s unwavering resolve to eradicate terrorism from the country, stating that a major operation in Balochistan is unnecessary as a single Station House Officer (SHO) can effectively combat the terrorists.
Addressing a press conference at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, alongside Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, Naqvi asserted, “Those who believe they can intimidate us through cowardly acts of sabotage are living in a fool’s paradise. They will soon face a stern response from the state.”
Naqvi outlined the government’s strategy to bring the culprits behind the Balochistan unrest to justice, including targeting their masterminds and facilitators. He declared, “Enough is enough; the government has adopted a concerted approach against miscreants. Even the enemies of Pakistan have realized that they have never encountered such a harsh response in the past.”
The minister condemned the terrorists for attacking innocent civilians under the cover of darkness, praising the bravery of Pakistan’s security forces in repelling these assaults. He dismissed the need for a large-scale operation in Balochistan, reiterating that local law enforcement is capable of dismantling the terrorists’ network.
Naqvi highlighted the swift response of the security forces, who acted within ten minutes of a recent attack, forcing the terrorists to flee. He also conveyed the federal government’s full support for the provincial government, emphasizing that Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif postponed a cabinet meeting to focus on the situation in Balochistan, directing Naqvi to visit the region and ensure decisive action against the terrorists.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti added that an effective response mechanism is in place to combat terrorism in Balochistan, where terrorists exploit soft targets on the province’s extensive road network. He recounted the sacrifice of an Army Captain who lost his life in the line of duty, highlighting the ongoing commitment of Pakistan’s forces to protect the nation.
