Ishaq Dar Chairs Meeting to Develop Action Plan for E&P Sector Challenges

ISLAMABAD, Sep 25 (Alliance News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired the third meeting of the Committee established by the prime minister on Wednesday, focusing on the challenges faced by the Exploration and Production (E&P) sector in Pakistan.

During the meeting, progress was reviewed on several key initiatives, including the development of an integrated energy plan with the help of international consultants.

The committee also discussed proposed amendments to the OGRA Ordinance, which would introduce a mechanism for monthly or quarterly gas tariff adjustments, and strategies for optimizing gas utilization from dedicated fields.

Further discussions revolved around plans to restructure both Sui companies, transitioning them away from an asset-based fixed return regime.

The committee also emphasized digitization and automation to streamline regulatory approvals and suggested introducing a dedicated one-window facilitation service at both federal and provincial levels.

The meeting included Federal Minister for Planning and Special Initiatives, Secretary Petroleum, Secretary Power, and senior officials from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), and petroleum industry representatives.
