Mohsin Naqvi Discusses Strengthening Pakistan-US Relations with US Congressmen

ISLAMABAD, Jan 22 (Alliance News): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with US Congressman Thomas Richard Suozzi and Congressman Jack Bergman in Washington to discuss enhancing bilateral ties between Pakistan and the United States, along with key regional issues, including Afghanistan.

The meeting underscored the shared interests and the need for further collaboration between the two nations.

Minister Naqvi emphasized the United States as an essential economic and defense partner for Pakistan, acknowledging the significant role of US assistance in Pakistan’s development, particularly in improving the country’s social sectors.

He also expressed a desire for stronger cooperation in various fields, marking a step toward a more robust and mutually beneficial relationship.

In the course of the meeting, Minister Naqvi extended an invitation to Congressman Suozzi, a Democrat, and Congressman Bergman, a Republican, encouraging them to visit Pakistan. He highlighted that such visits are vital for deepening and strengthening bilateral ties.

Congressman Suozzi, a member of the Pakistan Caucus, reaffirmed his commitment to furthering US-Pakistan relations and announced plans to visit Pakistan soon.

The discussions concluded with an agreement to hold the Pakistan Caucus Conference in Washington, D.C., on April 30, showcasing the intent to further engage diplomatically.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, attended the meeting, further highlighting the importance of the continued partnership between the two countries.

This visit is viewed as a significant step in reinforcing the longstanding collaboration between Pakistan and the United States.
