Pak-GCC Delegates Pledge Joint Action Against Narcotics

ISLAMABAD, Apr 18 (Alliance News): The heads of anti-narcotics departments from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries called on Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad during the Pak-GCC Anti-Narcotics Conference.

The high-level meeting reaffirmed mutual commitment to strengthen cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking.

The visiting delegation included senior officials from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha, and Director General Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Major General Abdul Moeed were also present at the occasion.

Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed gratitude to the participating countries for attending the conference and praised their collective efforts in addressing the global drug problem.

He lauded the successful outcome of the conference and emphasized that joint strategies will enhance regional cooperation in the war against narcotics.

DG ANF Major General Abdul Moeed briefed the gathering on the key recommendations made during the conference.

The delegates unanimously agreed to hold a ministerial-level meeting of anti-narcotics ministers from the Pak-GCC bloc by the end of the year, where significant decisions will be taken to further intensify the anti-drug campaign.

Minister Naqvi emphasized the need for strong coordination, noting that Pakistan has significantly strengthened its ANF and previously conducted joint operations with GCC countries, which will continue in the future.

He reiterated that only through collective efforts can the menace of drugs be effectively eradicated.

Minister of State Talal Chaudhry highlighted the critical role of technology in modern narcotics control.

The GCC delegates appreciated Pakistan’s proactive measures, acknowledging the conference as a milestone in fostering regional collaboration against drugs.
