ISLAMABAD, March 4 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday established a committee to accelerate the implementation of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements signed with Azerbaijan during his recent visit.
Chairing a review meeting, the prime minister directed officials to draft an action plan aimed at increasing Pakistan-Azerbaijan trade volume to $2 billion.
The committee, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, will oversee agreements in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Shehbaz Sharif also instructed authorities to finalize preparations for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s expected visit to Pakistan next month and called for the appointment of trade officers in Azerbaijan and other key markets.
During the prime minister’s visit to Baku, a joint business forum attracted 83 Pakistani and 101 Azerbaijani companies, resulting in the signing of 13 MoUs and agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation.
The meeting was attended by key ministers, including Ahad Khan Cheema, Jam Kamal Khan, Abdul Aleem Khan, Dr. Musadik Malik, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and senior officials.
