BEIJING, Feb 6 (Alliance News): Pakistan and China have agreed to transform the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into a modern development corridor, further boosting trade, scientific, and technological cooperation, according to a joint statement issued during President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to China.
China reaffirmed its full support for Pakistan’s stability, development, and prosperity, while both countries pledged to enhance Chinese investment in Pakistan’s special economic zones. The new Gwadar International Airport is also set for official inauguration.
The joint statement emphasized stronger defense and security cooperation, with China reiterating its support for UN resolutions on the Kashmir issue.
Both nations also agreed on effective measures against terrorist groups in Afghanistan and expressed full solidarity with the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
During the visit, several bilateral agreements were signed, and President Zardari extended an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Pakistan.
