Pakistan Condemns Israeli Raids on West Bank Refugee Camps, Calls for UN Action

ISLAMABAD, Sep 5 (Alliance News): Pakistan strongly condemned the recent assault by Israeli occupation forces on refugee camps in Jenin and Tulkarm in the occupied West Bank, labeling it a violation of international laws.

“Targeting individuals in refugee camps is a blatant breach of international humanitarian law by the Israeli occupation forces, showing their disregard for global norms and decency,” said Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch during her weekly press briefing.

She called for an immediate halt to these military raids in the West Bank and emphasized that peace cannot be achieved through aggression.

The spokesperson also urged the United Nations Security Council to intervene, hold Israel accountable for war crimes, and take action to protect Palestinian civilians.

Baloch further briefed the media on Pakistan’s role at the 50th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Cameroon, where Foreign Secretary Muhammad Sajjad Qazi represented the country.

The session reaffirmed the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute according to UN resolutions and through a plebiscite supervised by the UN. The OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir also reiterated its support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

The spokesperson provided updates on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar’s official visit to the UK, where he discussed enhancing Pakistan-UK cooperation with UK officials.

Additionally, she announced that Islamabad would host the 23rd meeting of the Ministers for Foreign Economic and Foreign Trade Activity of the SCO member states on September 12.

Regarding recent comments by India’s External Affairs Minister, Baloch reaffirmed Pakistan’s rejection of any unilateral solution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. She emphasized that the issue must be resolved according to UNSC resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

She also touched on Pakistan’s relations with Bangladesh, ongoing cooperation with China, and Pakistan’s stance on women’s rights in Afghanistan.
