Pakistan National Assembly Condemns Israeli Actions in Palestine

ISLAMABAD, Aug 2 (Alliance News): The National Assembly of Pakistan on Friday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the ongoing Israeli state oppression and brutality in Palestine.

The House expressed complete solidarity with the Palestinian people and extended condolences to the family of Ismail Haniyeh and all Palestinians. The resolution was moved by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on behalf of all political parties.

The resolution called on the international community to take effective action to halt Israel’s oppression and deliver justice to the Palestinian people. It urged for an immediate ceasefire, sustainable humanitarian assistance, and the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza as per UN Security Council Resolution 2735 (2024).

“This House decides that Pakistan will continue to supply aid to Palestine and take effective measures for medical assistance to the oppressed Palestinian brothers and sisters, including medical treatment in Pakistan,” the resolution stated.

Additionally, it resolved that Palestinian medical students would receive free admission to Pakistan’s medical colleges.

The House also decided to observe a day of mourning on August 2nd in solidarity with Palestinians and condemned Israeli brutality. Funeral prayers in absentia for Ismail Haniyeh were held across the country after Friday prayers.

The resolution called on the United Nations Security Council to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza and hold Israel accountable for war crimes against Palestinians. It also demanded the immediate admission of the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.

The resolution noted that Israeli atrocities have caused immense suffering and the loss of over 40,000 innocent lives, including women and children, over the past nine months. It condemned the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, viewing it as a deliberate attempt to sabotage peace efforts in the region.

The House emphasized that such actions not only threaten global peace but also escalate violence in an already volatile region, undermining efforts for peace.
