Pakistan Slams India’s Role in Sponsoring Terrorism at UN, Reiterates Commitment to Fight Terrorism

United Nations, Oct 4 (Alliance News): Pakistan’s acting Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, condemned India’s alleged role in sponsoring terrorism and reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to defeat externally sponsored terrorism during a debate at the UN General Assembly’s Legal Committee on Thursday.

Speaking at the UN’s Legal Committee on “Measures to Eliminate International Terrorism,” Ambassador Usman Jadoon emphasized Pakistan’s efforts over the past two decades to combat terrorism.

He pointed to the evolving nature of terrorism, highlighting the need for the UN’s counter-terrorism framework to address new forms, such as cyber terrorism and the use of cryptocurrencies for terror financing.

Ambassador Jadoon stressed that unresolved conflicts, including in Kashmir and Palestine, must be addressed to effectively eliminate terrorism.

He accused India of actively aiding and financing terrorist activities against Pakistan, while portraying itself as a victim of terrorism.

The Indian delegation responded with claims about Jammu and Kashmir being an integral part of India and accused Pakistan of supporting terrorism, to which Pakistan’s delegate, Jawad Ajmal, firmly rejected the accusations and reiterated Pakistan’s call for India to comply with UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.

Ambassador Jadoon also condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression in Lebanon and Gaza, calling for accountability for its actions.

He urged the international community to ensure that counter-terrorism measures do not violate human rights, citing examples of Israel in Palestine and India in Kashmir.
