ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 (Alliance News): Pakistan expressed strong support for the recent report by UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, which accuses Israel of systematic displacement, annihilation, and genocide in Gaza and the West Bank.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch endorsed Albanese’s report, highlighting that Israel is obstructing international investigations, including by blocking UN fact-finding teams.
“Pakistan supports Ms. Albanese’s call for decisive action against Israel’s atrocities and ensuring unhindered humanitarian aid to Gaza,” Baloch stated in a press briefing, adding that Pakistan stands by the protection of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
The report documents Israel’s alleged acts of territorial expansion and ethnic cleansing against Palestinians, as well as targeted attacks on hospitals and relief workers.
The spokesperson called for the immediate protection of civilians and unrestricted humanitarian access to those affected, particularly in Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon, where infrastructure and medical facilities have suffered extensive damage.
She also expressed concern over Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yaseen Malik’s deteriorating health in Tihar Jail, urging Indian authorities to ensure his proper medical care and immediate release.
In diplomatic engagements, the Foreign Office briefed the media on Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi’s visit, during which he discussed regional cooperation with Pakistani leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The officials reaffirmed commitments to enhancing cooperation in trade, energy, and security, along with strengthening border management.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to participate in the Second Joint Arab Islamic Summit in Saudi Arabia on November 11, addressing the situation in the Middle East.
At the summit, he will call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, support for an independent Palestinian state on pre-1967 borders, and protection for Palestinians from escalating hostilities.
Sharif is also scheduled to attend the World Leaders Climate Action Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, on November 12-13, part of the 29th UN Climate Change Conference.
His address will emphasize climate justice and advocate for urgent action on climate impacts affecting millions globally, including Pakistan.
