PM Shehbaz Highlights Pakistan’s Digital FDI Initiative as Regional Milestone

LAHORE, Jan 18 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday announced that Pakistan has become the first country to implement the Digital Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Initiative, launched by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in collaboration with the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO).

According to a spokesperson, the premier highlighted the initiative as a pivotal achievement in fostering digital progress.

He noted that Pakistan’s Digital FDI project focuses on developing digital infrastructure, enhancing digitization, and promoting the export of digital services.

It targets key sectors likely to attract substantial foreign investment into the country.

The prime minister described the Digital FDI framework as a significant step toward creating an investor-friendly environment.

“This milestone is steering the country towards a vibrant digital economy, crucial for achieving sustainable progress and prosperity,” he said.

He also emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to advancing economic growth and establishing Pakistan as a hub for digital innovation.
