PM Shehbaz: Pakistan Emerging as Key Regional Market for Digital Investment

ISLAMABAD, Apr 30 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to embracing the global wave of digital transformation, asserting that Pakistan offers the most suitable market in the region for digital startups and foreign investment.

In a meeting with Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), Deemah Al Yahya, the prime minister said Pakistan’s hosting of its first-ever Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum 2025, with over a thousand global technology investors and policymakers in attendance, was a clear sign of its growing digital influence in the region.

Calling Pakistan’s youth its “most valuable asset,” PM Shehbaz emphasized that equipping them with digital skills is a top government priority.

He said the government was actively introducing digital and investment projects targeting young people to harness their potential for economic growth.

Highlighting Pakistan’s investor-friendly policies and infrastructure, the prime minister said the aim is to attract capital and facilitate the transfer of cutting-edge technology into the country. “Digital transformation is no longer a trend—it’s a revolution reshaping the global economy,” he remarked.

The DCO Secretary-General thanked Pakistan for hosting the forum and called her participation in the event’s opening session a privilege and an honor.

The meeting was also attended by Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, PM’s Advisor Syed Tauqir Shah, and senior officials.
