QUETTA, Aug 29 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism in Pakistan, emphasizing collective efforts to overcome this menace.
He made these remarks while addressing a high-level Apex Committee meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta, following a tragic terrorist incident in Balochistan on August 26.
“The entire nation is grieved by the recent tragic incident in Balochistan. The Khawarij, who have shed the blood of innocent people, will be crushed through the joint efforts of the nation and the valiant forces of Pakistan,” the Prime Minister stated.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal, and other senior military and civilian officials.
Expressing profound grief over the loss of lives in the Balochistan attack, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident as a “tragic and barbaric” act that has caused a wave of sorrow across the country.
He reassured the nation that terrorism would be eradicated from Balochistan, emphasizing that all obstacles to the province’s development and prosperity would be removed.
The Prime Minister suggested that foreign elements may be involved in planning the terrorist activities in Pakistan, particularly the attacks carried out by the Khawarij.
He reiterated the government’s determination to bring those responsible for the bloodshed to justice, ensuring that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not be in vain.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed strong confidence in the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed and civilian forces.
He highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration between the federal government, the Balochistan leadership, and the military, under the guidance of Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, in the fight against terrorism.
“The sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the motherland, as well as those of innocent civilians, will not go to waste,” the Prime Minister asserted, pledging to continue the fight until terrorism is fully eradicated from Pakistan.
