PM Vows to Equip Workforce with Global Skills, Boosts Ties with ACCA

ISLAMABAD, Apr 16 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping Pakistan’s workforce with internationally recognized skills and training, emphasizing transparency and performance in governance.

He made these remarks during a meeting with a seven-member delegation of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), led by Chief Executive Helen Brand OBE, at the Prime Minister’s House.

Welcoming the delegation, the prime minister said Pakistan was blessed with talented youth and skilled manpower. He stressed that third-party validation had become a vital element in all government projects to ensure transparency and better governance.

“Improving Pakistan’s investment rating by Fitch is a positive sign, but we must continue to move forward,” he said. The prime minister noted that ACCA could play a vital role in enhancing the skills of Pakistani professionals to meet international market demands.

He instructed relevant authorities to strengthen collaboration with ACCA and engage in discussions for a future action plan.

The ACCA delegation acknowledged its role in contributing to Pakistan’s economy and shared that over 13,000 Pakistani ACCA members were serving globally across various sectors, while 40,000 students were currently pursuing ACCA qualifications.

The delegation thanked the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for recognizing ACCA membership as equivalent to a Master’s degree and expressed a strong desire to support Pakistan’s Green Economy Transformation Plan.

They expressed interest in working with the government on sustainable development, climate change mitigation, innovations in accountancy and auditing, outsourcing in the corporate sector, and boosting revenue collection and institutional transparency.

The delegation also lauded the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership for steering the economy toward stability and growth.
