ISLAMABAD, Sep 10 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, emphasized the government’s ongoing structural reforms in the power sector, aimed at enhancing efficiency and service delivery.
These reforms include restructuring the Boards of Directors of Distribution Companies (Discos) by incorporating private sector professionals and reducing government nominees.
During a meeting with K-Electric Chairman Mark Skelton, the minister discussed K-Electric’s plans to meet Karachi’s growing energy demands and its transition towards renewable energy for more affordable and sustainable electricity.
The government is committed to increasing private sector involvement in state-owned Discos and Gencos, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of private sector-led economic growth. Aurangzeb expressed support for K-Electric’s efforts to invest in renewable energy and expand its operations.
