PTI Leaders Elahi, Qureshi Omitted from May 9 Violence Report

ISLAMABAD, Feb 27 (Alliance News): A cabinet committee report prepared by the caretaker government on the alleged incitement of violence during the May 9, 2023, attacks on military installations has notably excluded the names of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Deputy Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The report, presented before the current federal cabinet, accuses PTI founder Imran Khan of actively planning the events and details the roles of several other PTI leaders in the attacks.

However, despite their ongoing legal battles related to the May 9 incidents, Elahi and Qureshi’s names do not appear in any capacity.

The omission has raised questions, as dozens of PTI figures are named in the report for allegedly inciting violence. Among them are Hammad Azhar, Zartaj Gul, Murad Saeed, Farrukh Habib, Ali Amin Gandapur, Ali Zaidi, and Dr. Yasmin Rashid.

The report underscores the unprecedented nature of the attacks on state institutions and provides a detailed account of PTI leaders’ alleged involvement.

The exclusion of Elahi and Qureshi, despite their multiple FIRs, adds to speculation surrounding the findings.
