ISLAMABAD, Sep 11 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and National Heritage Attaullah Tarar announced on Wednesday that state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) and PTV World are being revamped to meet modern demands.
Speaking during the National Assembly’s Question Hour, he stated that anchors from the private sector had been brought in to refresh PTV’s image as a state institution, with plans to ensure opposition members are given appropriate airtime.
Tarar also highlighted Pakistan’s upcoming hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, noting the necessity of revamping PTV World to serve as the country’s voice during major international events like the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Conference.
The minister further shared that while the government has implemented a minimum wage of Rs 37,000 per month across 15 departments under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the same is pending for PTV. He mentioned that the case has been forwarded to the PTV Board of Directors and emphasized the goal of transforming PTV into a profitable and dynamic organization, despite issues with ghost employees from previous administrations.
