ISLAMABAD, Oct 05 (Alliance News): Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui, Parliamentary Party Leader of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) in the Senate and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, praised the announcement of Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s participation in the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

Senator Siddiqui described this as a positive step towards improving bilateral relations between Pakistan and India.

In a statement on social media platform ‘X’ on Saturday, Senator Siddiqui emphasized that Jaishankar’s presence at the summit presents an opportunity to ease tensions between the neighboring countries.

However, he voiced concerns over Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) handling of the diplomatic event.

Siddiqui criticized PTI for inviting only the Indian foreign minister to its protest demonstrations, disregarding other SCO leaders.

He sarcastically suggested that PTI should showcase its ‘remarkable achievements’ by taking the Indian foreign minister to visit over 200 destroyed defense installations and memorials of martyrs, referring to recent unrest, to highlight the ‘eternal ties’ between PTI and India.
