ISLAMABAD, Sep 9 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture Attaullah Tarar on Monday condemned Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s offensive remarks against women political opponents and journalists.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, Amir Muqam, Tarar called Gandapur’s behavior disrespectful to the centuries-old Pashtoon norms, which highly value respect for women.
Tarar criticized Gandapur for verbally attacking Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, accusing him of avoiding addressing serious issues such as terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and resorting to personal attacks. He said only weak leaders like Gandapur stoop to such levels of disrespect and that Maryam Nawaz had always faced adversity with courage.
The minister also accused the PTI government of corruption in KP, claiming that no substantial development projects were carried out during their 12-year tenure. He alleged that public resources were misused for the party’s rally, which he called a failed show.
Tarar took aim at PTI’s ties with foreign interests, citing media reports linking Imran Khan to Jewish lobbies and accusing the party of political hypocrisy. He also condemned the mistreatment of journalists, particularly female media professionals, during the PTI rally.
In closing, Tarar announced the launch of a weekly program to expose fake news and urged the media to stand against the abusive behavior of PTI leaders.
