Trial of Civilians Under Army Act: Hearing Adjourned Due to Judge’s Absence

ISLAMABAD, Jan 20 (Alliance News): The hearing of a constitutional petition regarding the trial of civilians under the Army Act, scheduled for Monday, January 20, was adjourned due to the unavailability of Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, a member of the seven-member constitutional bench.

The bench, headed by Justice Amin Ud Din Khan and including Justices Jamal Mandokhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Musarrat Hilali, Naeem Akhtar Afghan, and Shahid Bilal Hasan, had been hearing the case for the past nine days.

The court had previously directed Advocate Khwaja Haris, counsel for the Ministry of Defense, to conclude his arguments by Monday.

The case was listed for hearings on Monday and Tuesday, but it was delisted on Sunday after Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan was unavailable.

A new hearing date will be announced later, with Advocate Haris expected to resume his arguments.
