LONDON, Sept 6 (Alliance News): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, met with UK Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Ms. Angela Rayner, on Thursday.
The meeting was part of Dar’s official visit to the UK.
Dar congratulated Rayner on her recent appointment and emphasized the importance of a robust Pakistan-UK partnership to advance shared interests in both bilateral and regional contexts.
He highlighted the contributions of the British-Pakistani diaspora in strengthening the historical ties between the two nations.
Dar recalled Rayner’s visit to Pakistan following the 2022 floods and expressed Pakistan’s interest in collaborating with the UK on climate action and mobilizing international support for countries vulnerable to climate change.
He also emphasized the mutual priorities of creating opportunities for youth and enhancing bilateral trade and investment. Dar appreciated the UK’s continued provision of duty-free access for Pakistani exports.
Rayner congratulated Dar on Pakistan’s election to the UN Security Council and acknowledged the positive impact of the British Pakistani community in fostering closer relations between the two countries.
