UN General Assembly President Urges Dialogue Amid Pakistan Protests

UNITED NATIONS, Nov 27 (Alliance News): The President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Philemon Yang of Cameroon, has emphasized the need for dialogue to address grievances as opposition protests in Pakistan subside.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson Sharon Birch on Tuesday, Yang stated that he is “closely” monitoring the situation in Pakistan. He called for restraint from violence by protesters and urged all stakeholders to prioritize dialogue.

“Peaceful assembly and freedom of expression are fundamental human rights that must be upheld,” the statement stressed, underlining the importance of ensuring these rights while addressing underlying concerns.
