ISLAMABAD, Dec 6 (Alliance News): Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, emphasized on Friday the strategic importance of transport links between Uzbekistan and Pakistan for regional economic integration and connectivity.

Talking to Alliance News, Ambassador Tukhtayev highlighted key projects like the Termez-Kabul-Peshawar railway, the recently launched Tashkent-Lahore flight, the Trans-Afghan Railway, and the multimodal Belarus-Russia-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan corridor as pivotal for enhancing regional trade and geo-economic connectivity.

He underscored that these initiatives not only bolster bilateral relations but also contribute to regional stability and Afghanistan’s economic recovery.

Tukhtayev noted that the Termez-Kabul-Peshawar railway project will significantly reduce transportation costs and delivery times, facilitating Uzbek goods’ access to global markets through Pakistani ports.

The ambassador praised Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s leadership in resuming direct flights between Tashkent and Lahore, which he described as a milestone for tourism, trade, and people-to-people diplomacy.

He added that the recent reintroduction of tourist visas for Pakistanis reflects the deepening ties and mutual opportunities for collaboration.

Highlighting Uzbekistan’s rich cultural and historical heritage, Tukhtayev invited Pakistani tourists and business representatives to explore opportunities, stressing that these developments will transform Uzbekistan into a vital hub for Pakistan.
