ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (Alliance News) — A high-level delegation from West African nations, including Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, and Niger, visited Pakistan’s Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) headquarters on Monday.
This visit aims to learn about BISP’s social protection initiatives for marginalized communities. The delegation’s four-day study tour, from November 11 to 14, 2024, is conducted in collaboration with the World Food Program and the World Bank.
Senator Rubina Khalid, BISP Chairperson, welcomed the delegation and highlighted BISP’s role as Pakistan’s flagship social protection initiative, benefiting 9.3 million low-income women across Pakistan.
She expressed hopes for mutual learning, emphasizing the significance of experience-sharing in socio-economic development.
During the briefing, BISP Secretary Amer Ali Ahmad discussed the focus on the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) database and BISP’s payment system.
The delegation, led by Mali’s Health and Social Development Minister Colonel Assa Badiallo Toure and Burkina Faso’s Permanent Secretary for Social Protection Amedee BAMOUNI, expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts in social welfare.
