ISLAMABAD, March 10 (Alliance News): A group of women was allegedly assaulted and robbed of 10 tolas of gold jewellery and Rs2 million in cash during a violent mugging outside a fast-food restaurant near F-9 Park in Islamabad.
Footage of the horrifying incident has surfaced, showing armed assailants physically attacking the women, dragging them by their hair, and subjecting them to violence on the road. The video has triggered widespread outrage on social media, raising concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the capital.
According to the FIR registered at Margalla Police Station, the prime suspect, identified as Jamal, along with his accomplices, intercepted the women on February 23, forcibly assaulting them and robbing them before fleeing.
An Islamabad police spokesperson confirmed that an FIR was promptly lodged, leading to the arrest of the main suspect. Following interrogations, the stolen cash and jewellery were recovered, and a charge sheet was submitted in court. The accused has been sent to jail on judicial remand, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
The FIR details the terrifying ordeal of the victim, Hajra Mushtaq, who was attacked along with her daughters outside the fast-food restaurant at 7:45 PM. She stated that a man in a high-end vehicle, identified as Jamal, blocked their car and attempted to seize it at gunpoint.
“When I intervened, Jamal and his friends dragged us by our hair, beat us mercilessly, and tore my young daughter’s clothes,” she said in the FIR. The robbers brandished a pistol and snatched their bags containing Rs2 million in cash and 10 tolas of gold, before threatening to kill them and fleeing.
The case has been registered under five sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
