Women’s Empowerment Key to National Progress, Says Punjab Governor

FAISALABAD, Sep 25 (Alliance News) – Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan emphasized the essential role of women in national development during the inauguration of a display and facilitation center for businesswomen at the Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FWCCI) on Wednesday.

Highlighting that women comprise 52 percent of the population, he stated their proactive involvement is crucial for achieving national progress and prosperity.

The governor remarked that Pakistan is at a critical juncture and the government is focused on empowering women.

He noted that various programs have been developed to support women’s participation across all sectors, including business.

“Women are endowed with tremendous abilities and capabilities. They should step forward and demonstrate their potential in national development,” he urged.

In response to questions from the media, Khan indicated that a new constitutional amendment is necessary to address issues stemming from the 19th Amendment, which he believes has undermined the spirit of the 18th Amendment.

He also pointed out that it often takes generations for poor families to resolve land disputes, emphasizing the need for constitutional courts to expedite these cases.

Additionally, the governor assured that appointments of university vice chancellors will be made strictly on merit, with a focus on young and energetic individuals to enhance the education sector on modern scientific lines.

The inauguration event was attended by President FWCCI Robina Amjad and other dignitaries.
