Youth Leadership Key to Commonwealth’s Future, says shaq Dar

APIA (SAMOA), Oct 24 (Alliance News): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, on Thursday, underscored the critical role of youth leadership in fostering a resilient and inclusive Commonwealth, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to providing platforms for empowering young leaders.

Speaking at the Commonwealth Intergenerational Dialogue in Samoa, DPM Dar highlighted the success of initiatives such as Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, which has helped millions of young people with education, employment, and active engagement in societal issues.

He also outlined Pakistan’s efforts to advance youth empowerment, including revising the Commonwealth Youth Programme Memorandum of Understanding (CYP-MOU) and launching the Commonwealth Asia Youth Alliance (CAYA).

Dar praised young leaders for their contributions to climate action and digital innovation, stressing that they are not only future leaders but are already influencing policy today.

He urged Commonwealth leaders to recognize youth as vital partners in building a sustainable future and called for sustained intergenerational collaboration to ensure long-term progress for the Commonwealth.
