Mike Hesson Appointed Pakistan’s White-Ball Head Coach

LAHORE, May 13 (Alliance News): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced the appointment of former New Zealand cricketer Mike Hesson as the new head coach of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket teams. Hesson will officially assume his role from May 26, Geo Super reported Monday.

Naqvi confirmed the appointment via a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Mike brings with him a wealth of international experience and a proven track record of developing competitive sides. We look forward to his expertise and leadership in shaping the future of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket. Welcome to the team, Mike!”

Hesson’s arrival comes just ahead of Pakistan’s scheduled five-match T20I series against Bangladesh. However, the series is expected to be rescheduled due to a clash with the grand finale of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, now set for May 25 — the same day the opening T20I was originally planned in Faisalabad.

A seasoned coach, Hesson previously led New Zealand from 2012 to 2018, taking the team to new heights during his tenure. He also boasts significant experience in franchise cricket, including coaching roles in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which adds to his ability to manage high-pressure cricket environments.

The PCB is banking on Hesson’s expertise to bring consistency and growth to Pakistan’s white-ball format teams as they prepare for upcoming international challenges.
