ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (Alliance News): The Pakistani athletics team is gearing up to participate in the SAAF Junior Athletics Championship, which will be held from September 11 to 13 in Chennai, India.
According to Maj. Gen. (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi, Chairman of the South Asia Athletics Federation, teams from seven countries, including Pakistan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, will compete in the event.
The championship will feature 15 categories of men’s and women’s events. The men’s events will include the 100m race, 200m race, 400m race, 800m race, 1500m race, 3000m race, 110m hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay. The women’s events will mirror the men’s, featuring the same categories with the 100m hurdles for women.
The event is expected to showcase young athletic talent from across South Asia, with the competition concluding on September 13. Prizes will be awarded to the winners at the end of the championship.
